How did you guys get started?
Well, the members at the time had all been in local bands that had never really went anywhere or done something that truly stuck with people. The common interest of music brought us together to hang out, and we got started talking about what kind of band we wanted to be in. The truth is, Scara Brae started out in hopes of being the next Forever the Sickest Kids. But we quickly went back to our roots and started writing a style of music that we've loved for years. Thank God.

Can you describe Scara Brae's sound?
This is always the hardest part for us, because there's only a few bands out there who have a "southern" sound. If I had to put it in a sentence, I would say that country music riffs met distortion and sped up the tempo. Our songs as fast paced and in your face as can be while still maintaining a groove.

Are their any bands/musicians that have inspired y.our music?
Oh for sure. Our guitarist Taylor Robbins has an older brother named Chase Robbins. He was the old frontman for Memphis May Fire. Most of our band saw them every chance we got just because we knew someone who was actually making a name for themselves. But the more we saw them, the more we fell in love with their style of music. Even today, Memphis May Fire is one of our biggest influences, along with Aerosmith, Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, He Is Legend, and For Today.

Do you have a favorite song to play at shows?
My favorite song to play is the last track on our upcoming EP called "If You Break My Pinky Promise, I'll Break Your Pinky, Promise." I like it because it has the southern feel we love, hardcore parts, and soft picking part that leads in to a build-up at the end. It's a song with diversity, and I love it.

What has been your favorite band to tour with so far?
Well we haven't toured yet because we're still in school, but we have played a lot of shows and been on several "weekend tours." I can speak for the whole band when I say that our favorite band to play shows with is Sound The Ruin. They're amazing guys with good hearts and an insane live show.

If you could go on tour with any band, who would it be, and why?
It would definitely be Memphis May Fire, just because I've looked up to them for so long. Other than that, I would have to say The Chariot and For Today. Both because of their dedication to advancing the Kingdom of Christ, and come on. Who wouldn't want to see a Chariot show every night?
What is the craziest thing that has happened at one of your shows?
The craziest would have to be when we played the Scream The Prayer Tour in New Mexico. While the bands were loading in, our guitarist at the time named Blake called the dude who was looking after the bands and asked if he could bring us five Dr Peppers. It was the middle of summer, it was hot, and we were extremely thirsty. A few hours went by, and we were tired of waiting. We ended up finding the guy we called and asked him about our drinks. It turns out that he confused our Blake with another Blake. So we tried to find another Blake from one of the other bands. We found him and his band. A Plea For Purging had stolen our Dr Peppers. Someone just said "these are for Blake" and handed them over. They were stoked, but when they found out that the drinks were meant for us, they felt really bad. So during their set, Andy (the frontman) gave us the longest shout out ever, and led a parade of people to the room we played in after their last song. He ended up watching our set from Dustin's drum monitor.

What has been your favorite venue so far?
Definitely the Sunshine Theater in Albuquerque. We played with amazing bands, had an extremely responsive crowd, and had a great experience. I would love to go back.

If you could give a message to all your fans, what would it be?
A relationship with our Savior Jesus Christ is the only thing that can save you from the lives you are living right now, and the life that you would live after death if you rejected him. And while it isn't easy by any means to clam the title of a "Christian," that the benefits of living a life for Christ far outweighs any wealth or benefits that you could possess on this earth.

And lastly, if you guys could thank anybody for your success who would it be,
and why?
I would thank our former youth pastor Chris Baldwin. In our early stages of a band, we talked about God on stage, but we didn't live the life. He pushed us to be better Christians, better people, and a more effective ministry.
