Interview with Skyline For Tomorrow

I really loved interviewing these boys.
They're great guys, and they make awesome music.

Hopefully I get to see them live someday!

Q. How did you get started?
We came together from different bands. Skyline for Tomorrow is made up of myself, Justin Webb on vocals, Trevor Drish on guitar and doing some screams, my brother Seth Webb on guitar and doing some screams, Kyle Vincent on drums, and Brandon Hesson on bass guitar.  Me, Seth, and Kyle were all part of a semi-successful regional band before Skyline came about. Once that band ended, we saw no reason to part ways because we had such great chemistry. Trevor was part of another band and had left them to do a solo project while being our best friend. It just seemed like a natural fit to include him into the process since we have a great songwriting relationship.

Q. Where do you get your inspiration from?

Literally, everything and nothing at all.
There are some songs from the upcoming album that have such a strong meaning to me personally or someone else in the band, and yet there are some songs that have more of a "universal message" for anyone to relate to.

Q. What has been your favorite venue so far? And what's your dream venue?
10 West in Indiana is a great venue. Definitely had the best crew and bands that we played with on our last tour. I am not one of those musicians that dreams of selling out Madison Square Garden. It'd be nice financially, but for the most part I'm down with playing the intimate venues. I'm excited at the prospect of playing the Boney June's, Skull Alley's, Key Club's, and House of Blues's for awhile.

Q. If you had a chance to interview a musician who would it be, and why?
Oh man...Good one. I am in contact with some of my favorite bands like Chiodos, Jonny Craig, Of Mice and Men, etc. But I long for the day to sit down with Spencer of Underoath and just pick his brain for a bit.

Q.If you could thank somebody for helping you fulfill your dreams as a
musician, who would it be? And why?

My step-father. He's my inspiration for so much and if not for him, I wouldn't be involved in music. He handed me a guitar when I was 9 years old and when I was thinking of giving up during my last band's break-up, he encouraged me to play music as much as I could while I could. Kurt Travis (ex-Dance Gavin Dance) gave me the same advice, so it must be true haha. But my step-father for sure. He doesn't directly realize it, but I try to let him live his dream through me as much as possible.

Q. If you weren't involved in music, what would you be doing in life right
now?

Probably doing mixed martial arts. I am a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with almost three years of Muay Thai training. I don't train/fight anymore, but prior to the full time that is Skyline for Tomorrow, it was definitely my number one priority in life.

Q. If mom was going to make your favorite home-cooked meal, what would it
be?

Chicken alfredo pasta. When she makes that, I make sure I'm in the area so I can have the elusive home-cooked meal.

Q. What do you do in your down time?

I like to relax and play Call of Duty. But at the same time, there has been little to no down time with the album's recording, the distribution side of the album's release, and the steady tour schedule we've had and maintain. One of my MMA training partners would always tell me that "we did not choose a life of peace." In music, I suppose I did not choose a life of normalcy!

Q. Have you had any really embarrassing mishaps on stage?

Probably our first show as Skyline for Tomorrow in general. I was sick, I was quite intoxicated from some "cough syrup," and the venue was just full of some not so nice management. So I made it a point to announce their faults as much as possible. I'm sure they felt pretty bad about it, but in hindsight, I probably should have handled that a little better.

Q. What positive message do you want to send through your music to your
fans?

A sense of hope. We've all felt down. We've all felt loved, unloved, sadness, and loss. It's time to unite those people. Your average person can't relate to going to a club and poppin' champagne all night. If some bands want to sing about that stuff, cool. I just can't relate to it and I am sure most others can't. I want to affect and influence someone on an emotional level to where they feel like they know me through my music. Because in the end, if you've felt those very human emotions, you do know me.

Q. And lastly, what does your band name mean to you? And, whats its origin?

My band name kind of relates to my old band. A beautiful skyline is something you can look at and see so many different things that come together. Be it a skyline of buildings or of a  storm coming. Skyline for Tomorrow is our view of the future and of things to come. We're taking our fate into our own hands and hoping to build something beautiful out of it.

Aren't they awesome??
Well just brace yourselves, because they are just
about to get a lot more awesome.
