(interview questions answered by Blake Martin)

How did you guys get started?
Well Me (Blake), John and Aaron (and Lyle, our original guitarist) decided we wanted to form a touring metal band. Two frontmen later, with a tour booked and a big yard sale, Andy joined and we hit the road! The rest is history!

Can you describe A Plea For Purging's sound?
Our sound can best be described as four dudes trying their best to create something more heavy, dark, different and honest than everyone else in the music scene.

Are their any bands/musicians that have inspired your music?
There are a lot of bands that have given us inspiration through the years. Currently, Meshuggah, radiohead, Deftones, Dustin Kensrue/Thrice and Alice in Chains are very important to me as a writer!

Do you have a favorite song to play at shows?
Mine would probably Golden Barriers or The Eternal Female. Some of my favorite riffs I have ever written are in those two songs.

What has been your favorite band to tour with so far?
It is literally impossible to scale 5 years of friendships down to one band... The good ol' days with Burden of a Day, With Blood Comes Cleansing, Alert the Sky were amazing... We've made some awesome friends in the past couple years as well...so many to name!

If you could go on tour with any band, who would it be, and why?
Hmmm.... probably Meshuggah.

But it would make me want to never play music after that tour...

Do any band members have random pet-peeves while on tour?
I HATE snoring. Andy hates loud eaters, John hates fat people,

and Aaron hates the band Empire of the Sun (which is one of my favorite bands)

What is the craziest thing that has happened at one of your shows?
I saw a dog crowd surf awhile back.

That was awesome.
All the other crazy stuff usually happens because of us onstage.

What has been your favorite venue so far?
Rocketown in Nashville will always be home...

The Brothers Pizza in KY was always a party, as was The Vault in Buffalo MN.

If you could give a message to all your fans, what would it be?
Trust not in men, but the one true God.

And lastly, if you guys could thank anybody for your
success who would it be, and why?
We don't really consider ourselves to be anywhere worth mentioning BUT obviously God. And Jason/Virginia Dunn at Facedown. We wouldnt be anywhere without them taking a chance on some random dudes form TN!

Fingers Like Daggers

Alright.
I just realized something.
The last two posts I've done, have been me whining about how I'm grounded.
I'm sorry if I started to annoy you.
You probably could care less about how I'm grounded.
Lets just pretend that I'm not, okay?
'Cause honestly, I really don't enjoy thinking about it.

Thanks to Bryce Butler
I am now hopelessly obsessed with After The Burial.
(In Dreams is my favorite album, but right now I'm really diggin'
Forgiving A Future Self.)
I have been ignoring all other bands for the last week.
The last time I didn't listen to anything else but ONE band,
was when I was 14 and went through a
reallyreallyreally long Chevelle phase.
It lasted like, 2 months.
And the sad thing is, I STILL kinda like them.
Make fun of me all you want.
But they are actually a very good band.
Wait.
They're newer stuff is crap.
But they're first 3 albums were great.
Anyway, enough about Chevelle.
I mean really?
My boredom has come to me ranting about Chevelle.
This is crazy.
And it must stop NOW.
So, anyway, back to After The Burial.
THEY ARE AMAZING.
And if you haven't heard/listened to them,
you deserve to be kicked in the face.
Violent yes.
But once you take a listen you will most likely agree with me.

Oh yeah and before I go, I would like to thank you for reading my blog.
So...
THANK YOU.
*Virtual hug*
I love you.
Really, just knowing that people read my blog just makes me smile.
I could seriously care less about the followers.
It doesn't really make a big difference how many followers I have,
its just the views and readers that I get.
So, it's pretty simple;
You read my blog, I grant you a smile. (:

Oh, and I keep forgetting to mention things,
but I feel the need to express my excitement with everybody.
On Monday, I shall have an interview with the amazing,
A PLEA FOR PURGING.
Yes people.
You read correctly, A Plea For Purging.
I am so freaking excited.
I'm trying not to get all fan girl on y'all here.
But really, this seriously makes me so happy.
So be sure to check it out on Monday!
