INTERVIEW: Oceano

GENRE: Deathcore
LOCATION: Chicago, IL
LABEL: Earache

Q. How did Oceano get started?

A. Oceano got started a few years ago as just a casual high school grind/death metal project. As years went on and changes were made, some of our more serious peers within the scene (including myself) were recruited to fill in the empty positions in the band. From there we set out to play for anyone and everywhere to get the name out there and gain more serious attention for bigger touring opportunities.

Q. Can you describe Oceano's sound?

A. Oceano is just as pummeling and destructive as a devastating tidal wave.

Q. Are there any bands/musicians that have inspired your music?

A. Some of the bands noted direct influences are: Hatebreed, the Acacia Strain, Behemoth, Bloodbath, Decapitated, Deicide, Killswitch Engage
Q. Do you have a favorite song to play at shows?

A. My favorite song as of now, is off our new album "Contagion" its called "Regulated Disposal of Life"
Q. What has been your favorite band to tour with so far, and why?

A. It was a pleasure touring with Bleeding Through. It was like something i never thought would happen yet it did. It was an honor to hang and play with them as all of Oceano had personally been influenced and inspired by that band and their music.
Q. If you could go on tour with any band, who would it be, and why?
A. I'd love to personally tour with Killswitch Engage. They're another band who really inspired me and at least one other of my band mates musically. For ME, they're a big reason I even started doing vocals.

Q. Do any band members have random pet-peeves while on tour?

A. Our guitars, nick and I are very neat and sometimes freak about the cleanliness and overall condition of the van, which essentially IS our home when on the road. Haha
Q. What is the craziest thing that has happened at one of your shows?
A. Every time I See a kid get knocked out at our gigs, I get a big kick out of that, or freak out when I hear about it.
Q. What has been your favorite venue so far?
A. My favorite venue by far is The Croc Rock in Allentown, PA.

The kids are amazing there and get super violent. Nice sized stage and riser.
And above all else, there a specialty pizza shop connected to the venue!
Q. If you could give a message to all your fans, what would it be?

A. Do what you truly want to do in YOUR life. Don't conform and be forced to follow the rules forced upon you by government and religion.

Q. And lastly, if you could thank anybody for your success who would it be, and why?

A. Each and everyone of our band mates family as well as all the fans, friends, and supporters of Oceano. All of them are the reason for our (hopeful) continued success! :)

What Would Chuch Norris Do

I'm pretty sure concerts are the best thing ever.
Honestly, I haven't been to that many.
Contagion Across The Nation will be my third metal concert.
I wish I go to concerts more often, its just I'm ALWAYS broke,
and nobody plays in the area! I always have to drive at least an hour to MD or PA
to see a good show.
So far, I've been to the A Day To Remember's Homesick Tour with
August Burns Red, Enter Shikari, Silverstein, and Veara.
Also, Purple Door.
Holy crap that fest was amazing!
My favorite's that played were,
MyChildren MyBride, August Burns Red, Texas In July,
War Of Ages, and In The Midst Of Lions.
So cool, 'cause they just walked around, so I got to meet everybody.
Anyway, TODAY Abs (@AbsBurnsRed) and I are going to see,
Oceano, Chelsea Grin, ATTILA, In The Midst Of Lions, Monsters, In Dying Arms,
and then some local bands from Maryland that I've never heard of.
It's at The Ottobar in Baltimore MD, at 1:30PM.
Tickets are $13.
Let me know if your coming!
I'm so excited.

Here are my favorite songs by each band that's going.

Herod's Demise by In The Midst Of Lions

Sonnet Of The Wretched by Chelsea Grin

Fractured Frames Scattered Flesh by Oceano

What Would Chuck Norris Do by ATTILA

Monster by In Dying Arms

I'll post pictures from the concert when I get home!! (:

Big Wiggly Style

Okay, the other day I did a post for the indie lovers out there, and so now, its time for me to get back on track. Today, I'm not going to be showing y'all anything new, or any weird German bands that nobody has heard of. Nahhh, I'll show you guys just some of my favorites.

Hook, Line and Sinner by Texas In July
Also, check out Dressed For War.

The Seventh Trumpet by August Burns Red (its from their live CD Home, but it sounds better than when its from Trill Seeker)

Um, so yeah. This is another August Burns Red song, Back Burner. They are just so amazing I thought I'd put two of their songs on this post. :D
(Btw, they are even more amazing live!)

Revelations by The Crimson Armada
Also, check out A Filthy Addiction

Fractured Frames Scattered Flesh by Oceano (I'll be seeing them next month!)

What I hope you got out of this post, is an August Burns Red addiction. :D And if your already addicted to them, please, spread the love. People need to know about ABR.

LOVE, Abigaile. ♥
