INTERVIEW: Blood Of The Martyrs

GENRE: Christian/Death metal/Hardcore
LOCATION: Virginia, US
Sounds like: Breakdown Of Sanity, The Gun Show, Onward To Olympas, The Plot In You

How did you guys get started?
We started in Late 2007 with five guys who just wanted to write music. Through our rough patches, member changes, bad recordings, and music maturing one significant driving factor for the band has stayed solid. We want this band to be more than just a band, but a ministry, playing music for God and being something that people can relate to whether a believer or a non believer, we respect everyone no matter their beliefs.
That's what this band was founded on and that's what this band will always stand behind.

Can you describe Blood Of The Martyrs sound?
Asking a band to explain their sound is always a tough question. I'd rather the listeners have the task of describing our sound :)

Are their any bands/musicians that have inspired your music?
Sure, we listen to a wide variety of bands and artist that have all added to the way we write and the way we continue to write music. Anything from Hardcore to Alternative to Rap has sparked an idea and inspired certain aspects of our music.
Do you have a favorite song to play at shows?
Any fan favorites are always songs we enjoy playing live. My personal favorite to play live is either our newest released song "12 Counts of Sass In The 1st Degree" or a song that will be on our upcoming CD called "ZooKreeper"
What has been your favorite band to tour with so far?
Currently we haven't consistently toured with any band. We have mainly been hitting the road by ourselves but hopefully that will change soon!
If you could go on tour with any band, who would it be, and why?
If we are talking fantasy  then The Devil Wears Prada, In The Midst Of Lions, and Upon a Burning Body because they are awesome haha
Realistically probably some of our best friend VA bands such as Bring the Arsenal and I AM THE KID mainly because they are some legit dudes

Do any band members have random pet-peeves while on tour?
Not that I know of haha, we are all pretty easy going and it takes alot to get under our skin. I guess for me personally, finding a clean public bathroom is sometimes frustrating.

What is the craziest thing that has happened at one of your shows?
Good Crazy- probably the shows when all the kids know our music and are piling over our vocalist and the mic to sing along.
Bad Crazy - one time we were playing a house show out of state and some kids were trying to fight our vocalist during our set for pushing them to get some movement in the crowd going. Interesting times, thats for sure haha

What has been your favorite venue so far?
Mad Hatter(Shut Down)-Farmville VA
Tree Of Life- Lynchburg VAPoetic Shangrila Coffee Shop- Goldsboro NCAnd a few others but those are definitely the top.

If you could give a message to all your fans, what would it be?
First Be sure to keep in touch with us over Facebook and YouTube, we love talking to you guys!
Second Keep an eye out for our upcoming album releasing near the end of March, and tell all your friends about us <3Lastly, Sometimes the world has a way of beating us down and persuading us we are insignificant and nothing we do matters, but that cant be any further from the truth. Have faith and stay strong because God has a way of turning crappy situations into miracles. I promise you that. If you don't believe this then at least give us the benefit of the doubt and believe us when we say we love and respect you guys no matter what. Thanks for all your support!
