GENRE: Hardcore/Metal
HOMETOWN: New Orleans
RECORD LABEL: Tragic Hero Records
BIO: Starting from a high school talent show to performing main stage at Voodoo Fest, MASA has inevitably blossomed into a six-piece metalcore project with intentions of raging through interminable tours and seeing new faces on the daily. With such vigorous stage performances, MASA has managed to manifest their own musical persona across most of the central-south region of the US. In June 2010 they began to record their album with Drew Fulk at Think Sound Studios in Greensboro, NC. It was then that they were picked up by Tragic Hero Records and asked to finish the album, which is to be released in 2011.
(interview questions answered by Jesse Roger)
How did you guys get started?
Jesse: we got started back in 2006. We are from New Orleans, LA and after hurricane Katrina hit everything was kinda destroyed and deserted so we started this band to kinda kill time.
Can you describe Miracle At St. Anna's sound?
Jesse: hmmm, it kinda has all aspects of the metal genre all in one. It's nothing ground breaking but, I feel like we do our sound well and our album is really something special.
Are there any bands/musicians that have inspired your music?
Jesse: I would say *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys....haha just kidding for me it's bands like Meshuggah, Slayer, Underoath, and in all honesty Fall Out Boy.
We have a song called "Moses in agony" that I love playing. Has a great vibe and it's probably our best song.
That's hard to say, everyone is pretty awesome!
If you could go on tour with any band, who would it be, and why?
Meshuggah! Haha if I have to be realistic, Bring Me The Horizon would be awesome! They are probably the best band in the metal genre right now and they just do a lot of things right when it comes to their music.Do any band members have random pet-peeves while on tour?
Nah, we are all pretty relaxed people and we tend to just get along with each other pretty well. We are just grateful to be on a label and living our dream. So we try not to bitch and complain. Haha
What is the craziest thing that has happened at one of your shows?
For some strange reason a fight always, I mean ALWAYS breaks out. Hahaha
House of blues is always a fun experience, but the smaller venues are always sick!
If you could give a message to all your fans, what would it be?
Thanks for all your support and our CD will be out soon on Tragic Hero records!
